BUTTIES, baking and books will be on offer at Pickering Memorial Hall on Saturday as celebrations are held to mark the 12th anniversary of the venue’s refurbishment.

Secretary Mal Danks said the event would be a coffee morning with a difference.

“We will be serving bacon butties, home-baked cakes and a variety of beverages and selling some really good quality books,” she said.

“All proceeds will go to help us to run our community hall and keep it warm, comfortable and up-to-date.”

By popular request, there will also be Play Your Cards Right – a tombola-type game with a prize every time.

Mal said: “We are very aware of the recession and, with this in mind, we will be keeping our prices low and our quality high.

“This hall belongs to the people of Pickering and we hope that as many local residents as possible will come along and celebrate with us.

“All proceeds will support the running of the Memorial Hall.”

The coffee morning will be held on Saturday, 9.30am-noon.
