Runners book their places at Castle Howard triathlon
10:35am Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News
RECORD numbers have signed up for the annual Castle Howard Triathlon, but places are still available.
The event on Sunday, July 21, which is in its fourth year, will include races for juniors, sprinters and mid-distance participants.
Last year, more than 1,000 people took part, with many raising money for charities, including York Against Cancer, and Help For Heroes.
Brian Adcock, race director, said there had been a huge increase in children’s interest.
“The Olympic triathlon had a dramatic effect on our registration figures with confirmations surging the weekend after the event,” he said.
“We could see the Olympic legacy take immediate effect with double the number as last year signing up for our events, many claiming it testament to London 2012. It would be wonderful to think that we could harvest the next Brownlees in their home region.”
The Markel Castle Triathlon Series runs races at five castles around the UK, with children, teens, and adults able to participate on the same day and over the same cours.
