Stokesley death crash: man released on bail

A MAN who was arrested in connection with a fatal car accident has been released on bail.

Douglas Robertson, 27, died last Saturday, in North Road, Stokesley after he was struck by a silver Range Rover.

The 20-year-old man from the Stockton on Tees area, who was arrested in connection with the investigation on Wednesday, has today been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Four other men were arrested earlier in the week, including a 23-year-old from the Durham area, who was bailed, an 18-year-old who was charged with aggravated vehicle taking, who appeared at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and was released on bail, and a 48-year-old from Brompton on Swale, who was charged with obstructing an officer in teh execution of his duty. He was released on conditional bail.

A 15-year-old youth was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without a licence and driving without insurance, and appeared at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. He was remanded in custody to appear at court again on February 1.
