Call for action over lost mobile phone signal in Weaverthorpe
12:41pm Wednesday 23rd January 2013 in News
A PUBLIC meeting is being held tomorrow (Thursday) following concerns raised by residents in the Weaverthorpe area that their mobile phone signal has been lost.
Villagers have been facing problems with their mobile phones since the beginning of January. They say it is due to the decommissioning of mobile masts following the merger of Orange and T-Mobile.
Kate Lyon, who lives in East Lutton, said a Facebook page had been set up calling on Orange to rectify the situation.
“No letter or warning was sent out about this happening and this is affecting professionals on call and businesses along the valley, as well as domestic users and the farming community who all rely very heavily on the mobile service to function properly and safely.
“Mobile signal in the Wolds Valley is not great but people in Weaverthorpe have moved there in the knowledge that signal is available and therefore it should not be compromised.”
The meeting will be held at the Star Inn, Weaverthorpe at 7.30pm.
