THE manager of the Talbot Hotel in Malton is leaving to pursue new opportunities.

Robert Wormall was initially employed during the restoration of the Talbot to oversee the build-up to the hotel’s reopening, including recruitment, installation of systems and overseeing training.

Since April, he has managed the day-to-day operation of the hotel.

Robert said: “I would like to thank Sir Philip and Tom Naylor-Leyland for the opportunity to be part of the team that re-launched the Talbot.

“It has been a wonderful opportunity for me and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed, and I am very proud of the hotel and the team that I am leaving behind.

“I am sure the hotel will continue to go from strength to strength and wish it and all involved all the best.”

Tom Naylor-Leyland said he wished Rob well.

“Rob has put his heart and soul into making sure the Talbot Hotel was a success from day one and we are all appreciative of his hard work and enthusiasm,” he said.

“The tremendous reviews on Trip Advisor and feedback from guests are testimony to his achievements.”

Tom said: “In addition, he has become involved with the local community and has instigated initiatives within the town that will be of benefit to everyone working and living in Malton. We all wish him well for a well-earned holiday and for his next venture.”

From January 28, and while a new manager is being appointed, Jeremy du Plessis, who has previously worked with the Talbot’s operations director Iain Shelton, will be in charge of the day-to-day management of the hotel.
