RESIDENTS in Ryedale are being given the chance to show off their heritage artefacts at an Antiques Roadshow-style event.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust wants people to bring along items such as photographs of their family history, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards, fossils and archaeology finds, notes and minutes from old village meetings, sketches and paintings to the event at Staxton Village Hall on January 31, between 1.30pm and 6pm.
It is part of a project in the eastern vale of Pickering which is seeing the trust, together with Scarborough Borough Council and the East Riding and North Yorkshire Waterways Partnership, put together a funding bid for support to improve the area’s countryside.
The heritage event will include displays from the North East Yorkshire Geology Trust, the Scarborough council, the trust and other local groups, as well as a display of poetry by local children.
