£9,000 worth of bikes taken in raid

POLICE are appealing for information following the theft of a number of high-value bicycles in Pickering.

Intruders stole 10 mountain bikes with a total value of £9,000 from a shop in Southgate at 2am on Thursday.

The stolen bikes are a washed denim-coloured and a black Trek Skye S; a Trek Cobra in black and white; a black and grey Trek 6000; a Trek 3500 Disc; a black Trek Superfly AL Elite; a black and white Trex X-Caliber; a black and grey Trek Mamba; a denim wash-coloured Trek Lush and a white Cannondale Trail.

It is believed the thieves used a white van to transport the stolen bikes and may have been travelling with a small, dark-coloured car.

DC Steve Lloyd, of Scarborough CID, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a white van and small dark car acting suspiciously in the area at about the time of the burglary and urge them to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.

“I also need to speak to anyone who may be offered a mountain bike, matching the description of those stolen, for sale in unusual circumstances and ask them to get in touch.”

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is asked to phone North Yorkshire Police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Steve Lloyd.

Alternatively, information can be emailed to steve.lloyd@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

You can also phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12130005091.
