A COUPLE in a roadside clinch were rescued by firefighters after they fell over a wall and down a steep embankment.
The couple, both in their early thirties, were said to be “in an amorous position against a stone wall” on Brunt Acres Road in Upper Wensleydale, on Saturday lunchtime.
However, passion turned to pain when the woman lost her footing and fell over the wall, pulling her partner with her down a steep embankment, as he tried to prevent her fall.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Crews have used ladders and manpower to assist paramedics gain access to the casualties and transfer them to stretchers.
“The male has been taken to hospital via air ambulance suffering possible abdominal and leg injuries. The female has been taken to hospital via road ambulance suffering possible pelvic injuries.”
