COUNCIL chiefs in Scarborough are to discuss plans to use more publicly owned land for development as they try to provide more affordable housing on the North Yorkshire coast.

Scarborough Borough Council has completed a review of sites it owns and its cabinet is set to look at the results of public consultations on these studies.

So far, 50 new affordable homes have been built on land owned by the authority and 120 more are in the pipeline. Other sites have potential for up to another 150 affordable homes.
