NORTH Yorkshire Police are appealing for information following the theft of cable near Whitby.
The heavy duty lead and copper cable was stolen from the A171, near the Flask Inn between Thursday, January 3, and Friday, January 4. The thieves stole approximately 150 metres from an underground culvert.
PC Zoë Warboys, of Whitby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you saw any suspicious activity on the A171 around the time when the cable was stolen, I urge you to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.
“I am also keen to speak with any scrap-metal dealers who may have been offered the cable for sale and ask that they get in touch.”
Anyone who can help officers with their inquiries is asked to contact Whitby police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Zoë Warboys.
