RYEDALE Folk Museum reopens for its new season on Sunday following months of preparation for a busy 2013.

The year brings a new library, archive and research room, an extension of the gift shop, expansion of the T G Willey photographic display and the development of three new heritage cycle routes.

New events include a 1940s tea dance and blacksmithing courses running throughout the year, as well as the return of the Tractor and Engine Day and the Wonders of Wood weekend.

“Everybody thinks that when we close our doors in December we all go into hibernation when actually it’s one of our busiest times of year,” a spokesman for the museum said.
