A WALKING group is appealing for pairs of boots to support members through winter.

Green Steps is a small weekly walking group run by Next Steps in Norton, a resource centre supporting adults with mental health issues.

Walk leader Bridget Robinson-Clark said they went out every Friday at 10am for a short local walk suitable for all abilities, which is guaranteed to make everyone feel better afterwards.

“The problem is that it is so wet and muddy underfoot at this time of year and many who come along don’t have suitable footwear,” she said.

“We are making an appeal for boot donations so if anyone has any old pairs or is planning to replace their walking boots, please think of us and donate your old boots.”

Bridget added: “The donated boots will enable us to continue walking through the winter and we will have a flying start to the New Year which will see the start of a new twice monthly longer walks group.”

Donated boots can be left at Trailblazer Outdoors, 17 Market Place, Pickering or Next Steps, 7 Church Street, Norton.

Anyone interested in going along to the Green Steps walking group please contact Next Steps. New walkers are always welcome.
