‘Hoodie’ attacks man in Thirsk

A MAN was assaulted while walking in Thirsk. The 48-year-old man was walking past the Kingdom Hall in Long Street just after midnight on Thursday when he heard footsteps behind him. He turned around, and was punched in the face, suffering a cut and bruising.

Just before the attack, the victim had seen a group of youths in Stammergate, close to Long Street, but a police spokesman said it was not clear whether the assailant was part of this group. The attacker was white, between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8ins tall, wearing a hooded top. He ran off towards York Road following the assault.

Anyone with information or who can identify the attacker, should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, email jonathan.harrison@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or phone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
