POLICE in North Yorkshire have launched a campaign to recruit more community support officers (PCSOs).
North Yorkshire Police said posts were available across the force area and they were particularly looking for “community-minded” candidates who wanted to work in the Scarborough, Filey and Whitby areas.
The force has 179 PCSOs but is looking to reach a total of 183, as well as having people in place to potentially step in once current PCSOs move on.
Julia Mulligan, police and crime commissioner for North Yorkshire, said: “PCSOs make a real difference to local people and I have received many extremely positive comments about them and their integral role.
“The role demands people who are first-class communicators and proven problem solvers with high levels of personal resilience.”
