TURN the clocks back this weekend for Robin Hood’s Bay’s 19th Victorian Weekend, which runs from Friday until Sunday, organised by the RHB Tourism Association.
Encounter bawdy wenches at street corners, beware of pirates, learn from the first geologists, listen to carollers and ghostly tales in the warm glow of the moon, follow Master of Ceremonies Professor Fiddlesticks to the circus and an auction of curios, visit period cottages, marvel at the old crafts and Victorian games, befriend an alpaca or take a donkey ride and visit Santa’s grotto.
The extravaganza also features hand-bell ringers, a RNLI duck race, magic lantern shows, conker competition, lucky dips, tombolas, draws, spinning demonstrations, ganseys, costume competitions, mulled wine, mince pies, Christmas trees and carol singing.
