SINGERS of all ages and abilities joined the Chanticleer Singers at a workshop followed by a performance of John Rutter’s Requiem in St Peter’s Church, Norton, recently.

Almost 200 singers turned up to lend their voices to the choral event, and the choir was thrilled with the response to the invitation to join them.

All the singers enjoyed the day immensely, with many comments about the quality of the musical direction, friendliness of the choir and the standard of the cakes provided.

Banks Music Publications were also present throughout the day to supply Requiem scores and other choral music.

The performance took place at 4pm and was attended by a larger than expected audience. The workshop was led by Jane Sturmheit, the choir’s musical director. The accompanist was Geoffrey Coffin, with David Wood on oboe and Julie Brewer on cello. The soprano soloists were Anna FitzGerald and Rachel Jagger.
