PUT ON your dancing shoes and sequins for a Christmas dance and cabaret.

Organisers Pat and Barrie Elener are inviting all dancers and their friends to ‘Come Dancing’ at their annual event in aid of the local Marie Curie Cancer Care group.

This year, the dance will be held at the Ryedale Indoor Bowls Club in Norton. The tables and room will have festive decorations and music for modern and old time dancing, including waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, jive, rock’n’roll, latin, party and some popular sequence will be played.

Additional entertainment will be provided by local cabaret singer Will Rawlings, as well as a visit by Santa Claus and Mistress Holly. There will also be a raffle, spot prizes and games.

Barrie said the dress code was smart with black tie optional.

“This is a chance to for everyone to dress up and for ladies to wear their best party dresses,” he said. “The bowls club is a smaller venue than for previous Christmas dances, so a limit may have to be put on numbers attending.”

Tickets for the dance are not being sold in advance, but all firm bookings should be made to Barrie and Pat by email or telephone.

Tickets are £6 and payment will be taken on the door. Large groups of six or more may reserve a table.

Barrie said: “Anyone who is definitely intending to come dancing with us should get in touch and we will put them on the list.

“We look forward to seeing old and new friends and having a great social dance-party.

“It should be a super way to start the Christmas celebrations – and remember – keep dancing.”

The dance and cabaret is on Friday, 7.45pm-11.30pm, doors open at 7.30pm.
