TRIBUTES have been paid to Malton businessman Christopher Campbell who died suddenly last week.
Mr Campbell, 66, who established Campbell’s of Malton on Norton Road more than 40 years ago, was a member of Malton and Norton Round Table and the ‘41 Club’.
Alan Mitchell, of Maltech, in Malton, said: “Chris was always a friendly and enthusiastic supporter of Malton and Norton Round Table. He was very keen that young adults in Ryedale should belong to a social organisation for charitable fundraising and fellowship.”
Fellow member of the ‘41 Club’, Nick Greenhalgh, said Mr Campbell was a very jovial person.
“He was a true gentleman with very high standards in terms of his business dealings,” he said.
“Chris was a good friend and it is very sad that he passed away at such an early age.”
Mr Campbell, who lived in Old Malton, leaves a wife, Anne, two children, Mark and Jane, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His funeral service was held at St Mary’s Priory Church in Old Malton yesterday (Tuesday).
