A £100,000 project to resurface a stretch of the A64 in Ryedale will start next week.

Villagers in Rillington, near Malton, are being advised the scheme will be carried out overnight between November 19 and 30, focusing on an area west of the village crossroads and near Collinsons Lane.

Repairs will be carried out to both the eastbound and westbound carriageways between 6pm and 6am each night and alternate carriageway closures will be in place, meaning drivers approaching the roadworks will be held at temporary traffic signals before being led through in 10mph convoys. Highways Agency project sponsor Martin Hobbs said: “This work will help maintain safety of the route through Rillington and ensure users of the A64 can continue to enjoy safe, smooth and reliable journeys.”

“We appreciate this part of the A64 is in a sensitive residential area, and while some disruption and inconvenience is inevitable, we will be working to ensure it is kept to a minimum and any noisy work is done early on in each evening’s schedule.”
