Youngsters at Leavening Primary School build village guy for bonfire night

PUPILS at Leavening Primary School have created their own Guy Fawkes as part of the village’s annual bonfire night celebrations.

The guy was created as part of an art and design project and will take pride of place in the Jolly Farmers Pub before the event on Saturday.

Headteacher Sian Mitchell said the school was looking to build links with the community.

“The children have also been looking at Guy Fawkes and the history behind bonfire night. The guy will sit in the pub to raise money for the bonfire night event,” she said.

Leavening bonfire will be lit at 6pm, followed by fireworks at 6.30pm at Preston Hill.

Refreshments will be available and admission is free.
