Repair programme prepares schools for winter

EDUCATION bosses in North Yorkshire have completed one of their biggest repair programmes to more than 40 schools across the region.

The work by North Yorkshire County Council, designed to ensure buildings are safe, warm and protected from extreme weather ahead of winter, has tackled “some long-standing repair issues”.

Coun Arthur Barker, the council’s executive member for schools, said: “At a time when we are facing significant reductions in the money available to invest in school buildings, it is important we focus our investment in the right areas.”
