SCHOOLCHILDREN were inspired to look at careers in engineering by the former land speed world record holder Richard Noble at this year’s Scarborough Engineering Week.
Mr Noble, whose Bloodhound jet and rocket-powered car is targeting speeds of 1,000mph to smash the current world land speed record, presented pupils from Scarborough College and Graham School with prizes for the Scarborough Engineering Week design competition, at a business dinner where he also held the keynote speech.
The event, which is in its third year, has grown substantially each year, with some 1,600 pupils attending this time.
The event was held at The Spa in Scarborough.
