Flashing boards to prevent speeding in Kirkbymoorside
11:43am Wednesday 24th October 2012 in News
KIRKBYMOORSIDE Town Council has inquired about putting up flashing matrix boards in the town to stop motorists speeding.
Mayor Coun Chris Dowie told last week’s council meeting that she noticed Norton had a matrix board.
“If they do flash, up they certainly do make me slow down,” she said.
Richard Marr, Ryedale area manager for North Yorkshire County Council’s highways department, has told the council there was a new protocol coming where parish and town councils could contribute to temporary matrix signs and have them for up to six weeks at a time.
He also responded to a request about brightening the lights on the crossing over the A170 by reporting such a move was ‘still on the cards’ but it was likely to be March next year before any funds were available.
