Band marks National Trust group anniversary

THE Ryedale centre of the National Trust is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a concert at Gilling East Village Hall on Sunday given by Swinton and District Excelsior Band.

The centre was formed in 1982 to raise funds for National Trust properties in the area including Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Terraces and Temples.

A large part of the proceeds from the concert will go to Swinton Band which was founded in 1936 and has established a reputation as one of the area’s leading brass bands. The concert starts at 2.30pm and tickets are £8, including afternoon tea, from Bob Polley on 01653 693638 or on the door.
