A MOTORCYCLIST was left with a broken arm and collarbone after a collision involving a car near Helmsley.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the car left the scene of the accident on the A170 near the entrance to Duncombe Park estate on Monday afternoon.

Norman Roth, 44, from Redcar, was airlifted to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the casualty was riding a blue Suzuki GSXR motorbike towards Helmsley at the time of the accident.
