Strongmen urged to show up

RYEDALE'S strongmen are invited to enter the first Malton Show tug-of-war contest this year.

Teams from across the district can join in the fun at the annual agricultural event on Sunday, July 20 at Scampston Park, near Malton.

The semi-finals and finals of the championships will take place in the main ring and local associations, pubs, clubs, businesses and friends are all encouraged to enter.

A spokesman for the show said: "We hope that this will become an annual event which will be keenly and cleanly fought."
