THE Holderness Hunt held its annual point-to-point at Dalton Park near Beverley on Sunday, March 16.
The Ladies Open race, with a field of eight going to post, was won comfortably by a local rider, 25-year-old Emma Brader, aboard Duchess Account, an 11-year old thoroughbred mare.
Duchess Account, whose stable name is Bonnie, is the fourth generation in a line of pointers to be bred and trained at the family home in Thixendale near Malton by Emma's father, Charles Brader.
Point-to-point racing really runs in the family's blood, and both Charles and his father before him won races aboard their homebred horses, and Charles intends to put Bonnie in foal in the near future to ensure that this successful bloodline continues.
Emma Brader has partnered Bonnie for 11 of her 13 race wins over the last four seasons.
This formidable duo will be targeting the Grimthorpe Gold Cup next, a challenging four-mile, one furlong race at the Middleton Hunt point-to-point being held at Whitwell-on-the-Hill on Sunday, April 6.
