Car parking fees to rise
MOTORISTS using car parks in East Yorkshire are being reminded of a rise in charges in a number of towns across the area.
Car parks in Beverley, Bridlington, Driffield, Flamborough, Goole, Howden and Sewerby will be affected by the price increase, which comes into effect on Monday, April 14.
Drivers using the car parks, which are all run by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, will be charged £1 an hour from April to the end of October and 50p an hour in winter. The half-yearly permit charge will increase from £180 to £190 and the annual permit charge will increase from £331 to £350.
The council said the charges were increased after resident consultation showed higher parking fees would be more acceptable than a rise in council tax or cut in services.
