Lively programme for all at Helmsley Arts Centre
9:50am Wednesday 27th June 2012 in What's on
IT’S all getting very lively at Helmsley Arts Centre this week.
From tomorrow until Saturday, 1812 Youth Theatre presents two plays, The Blues Sisters and Rain on Me.
A lively and inventive comedy with music, The Blues Sisters tells of Madame Chantelle’s School of Dance and Deportment, which is threatened with closure by evil property developer Barnaby Sludge.
Maddy, Becky and Annie are transformed into The Blues Sisters, taking on the crooks – but will they save the day?
Meanwhile, Rain on Me, Mark Rees’ award-winning drama for teenagers, won the Quidi Vidi trophy at the Scottish Youth Finals in Dundee in June 2001. This is a modern Romeo and Juliet with overtones of West Side Story and Roxanne.
The show is at 7.30pm, tickets are £6/£5 concessions/£3 students and under 25s. On Sunday is Junkestra, a one-day workshop with Billy Hickling from STOMP.
The workshops are physical, fun and accessible for all ages and abilities and runs from 10am-3.30pm, the cost is £15. Phone 01439 771700 or visit www.helmsleyarts.co.uk
