Francis Nicholson exhibition, Ryedale Folk Museum until May 20

FRANCIS Nicholson is the subject of an exhibition at The Gallery at Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton-le- Hole until May 20.

Hailed by his contemporaries as the ‘father of watercolour in this country’, he was born in Pickering in 1753 and for 50 years painted portraits and scenes mainly in the northern counties.

This exhibition of historic fine art brings many of his watercolours, prints and drawings to North Yorkshire for the first time.
