Alexandra Burke
ONE of Britain’s best-known R&B singers will join JLS as their special guest at the Open Air Theatre in Scarborough this summer.
Alexandra Burke, who shot to fame after winning television singing contest, The X Factor, will guest alongside boyband JLS on August 18.
Alexandra Burke and JLS are part of a line-up at the venue this summer which includes American singing legend Dionne Warwick (June 6), pop sensation Olly Murs (July 15) and British tenor Russell Watson (August 4).
Alexandra, who won the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008, has gone on to sell more than four million records in the UK alone, including her debut double-platinum number one debut album, Overcome, and four number one singles.
Her current single, Elephant – the first track from her as-yet-unreleased second album – has just gone into the UK charts at number three.
“Alexandra Burke is an incredible singer and in my view one of the most talented solo artists to emerge from The X Factor process,” said Scarborough Borough Council leader, Coun Tom Fox.
“It will be great to see her on the same stage as JLS – I think fans are in for a spectacular night’s entertainment.
“The council is working tirelessly to bring top acts to the Open Air Theatre this summer and I am delighted with the progress that we have been able to make so far.”
“Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre is a special venue and I’m thrilled to see the council’s efforts paying off,”
added Welcome to Yorkshire’s chief executive, Gary Verity.
