OPENED in the presence of actor Charles Laughton in 1936, the listed Art Deco building which houses the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough celebrates its 75th birthday this year and to celebrate, the SJT is hosting Deco Days from tomorrow until Saturday.
There are tours of the building taking in the Art Deco features, two films from 1936, a musical comedy evocation of the Thirties, an Art Deco-inspired exhibition by local schools, a talk about Your Odeon, Your Days, The 1930s Songbook Supper with Holly Jazz Lowe and afternoon tea.
