FRESH from performing on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival, The Black Dyke Band will perform at Scarborough Spa’s Grand Hall on Saturday August 26.

The brass band joined a select group of the most famous rock and roll bands in the world when they opened up the proceedings on the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday of this year’s festival adding to their

160 years of rich musical history, which has seen them perform around the world including shows at Carnegie Hall in New York and Sydney Opera House.

Black Dyke Director of Music, Prof Nicholas Child said: "When Michael Eavis asked us to perform on the Pyramid Stage last year we unfortunately had to decline, as we were performing at the other end of the country the night before and an early performance the next day was simply impossible. However, this year we made certain our diary was free."

“We are always innovative in our concert planning and aim to reach new audiences, especially those who wouldn't have been exposed to just what a world class brass band can achieve. This is certainly going to be an amazing musical experience”.

The band has won numerous titles including European Brass Band Champions for the thirteenth time and has won the National Brass Band contest claiming their 23rd title. This extends their record as the most successful in history and no other ensemble in the world of music can boast such a record of innovation and success.

They have also recorded with Tori Amos, Peter Gabriel and The Beautiful South.

Tickets for ‘Black Dyke Band’ are now on sale, priced at £20 and are available from www.scarboroughspa.co.uk or via the Scarborough Spa Box Office (01723 821888).
