EXPERIENCE the ‘world in a weekend’ at a new festival being held next month.

Atlas is a celebration of music, food, drinks, and entertainment from around the world and will be held at Scampston Hall on July 29 and 30.

Organiser Lindsay Atkinson, said: “The festival aims to appeal to globetrotters, seasoned travellers, those with a love of dreaming of faraway lands or those who just want to experience a festival showcasing something a little different.

“There are several countries to explore, and with over 60 different classes, workshops, musicians, performers, inspirational speakers, outdoor activities, films, and secret areas to keep you entertained all weekend, there really is something for everyone. “

The festival will feature jazz, world music, pop, rock, drum ‘n’ bass, indie, hip hop, rap, techno, r‘n’b, dance, electronic, plus plenty more genres, and will be compered by Ryan Swain, from Malton.

Lindsay said: “I wanted Atlas to be a celebration of what was out there, a festival like no other, fusing music with inspirational ideas and activities all based on travelling the world, hence the tagline ‘The World In a Weekend’. Using the travelling theme I wanted to bring new ideas to the festival world- having imaginative areas such as the Adventure Park where you can participate in outdoor activities, the workshops which have all been hand selected to represent the varied idea of ‘travel’ and what it encompasses, the inspirational speakers and countries which are favourites of mine and companies involved are only ones I believe in. “

“The difference between Atlas and other ‘world music’ festivals is that they are not just focusing on the music from other countries but also the experiences you get whilst travelling- the good, the crazy and the different.

She added: “There is loads in the gorgeous parkland of Scampston to discover, with anything from burlesque to yoga classes, rock climbing to stand up paddle boarding, travel blogging seminars to bushcraft workshops, a crazy UV paint party to a high end club, unique shopping to world food and drink, a chilled out ‘hostel’ to more traditional stages, plus much more.”
