YORK band, Stillhouse, who play progressive acoustic music and will be showcasing their talent at Helmsley Arts Centre on Saturday, April, 29 at 7.30pm.

The band is made up of a mandolin, guitar, double bass and vocal trio ensemble who present beautifully crafted original songs with roots in bluegrass and contemporary folk.

The trio together are creating a new and exhilarating sound, which draws from each member’s unique musical background of the aforementioned bluegrass and folk as well as jazz, pop and acoustic music. The result is a captivating and complex set, characterised by melodically astonishing songs alongside soaring mandolin, guitar and bass-led instrumental pieces.

Jonny Neaves (guitar, vocals) and Polly Bolton (mandolin, vocals) have been collaborating since their teens. Matt Mefford (doubles bass) has roots in his hometown of Austin, Texas and spent the years before his move to the UK touring the States with bluegrass/jazz/folk quartet MilkDrive.

After first jamming together in spring last year, the three of them began collaborating to form what is now Stillhouse.
