THE award for best sewing (well that is a costume isn’t it?) goes to Colleen Attwood for Fantastic Beasts.

Well it just may be that you remember me mentioning that a certain Jennifer Powell’s worked on Fantastic Beasts, so as far as we are concerned she has won an Oscar by proxy.

There is obvious delight among her group of friends who were part of the film’s costume department.

I won’t mention the other thing at the Oscars which occurred other than to say however the wrong film was announced the person who was responsible must be mortified!

I had to watch Sing over the weekend when a fault seemed to develop with the new sound system I have just installed.

It did mean that I had to stand and watch the film while waiting for something to go wrong.

I got hooked on Sing – an animation I had been keen to see anyway, but it surpassed expectation with the animation.

The excellent story was a bit as you would expect, but there was a cast of excellent voices.

Some stood out as I instantly recognised Jennifer Saunders, but Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson, I got confused.

John C Reilly was instantly recognisable, but Matthew McConaughey and Seth MacFarlane I hadn’t recognised until I looked them up. There is the frustrating end to the story, which was nice overall. It is good fun entertainment for all with a nice end.

I think it will make its way into the collection on the shelf when it is available to buy.

On top of all this excitement I have been up some peaks in the Isle of Man with a radio transmitter, since last week, to do some Summits on the Air known as SOTA – exercise with a radio.

Films showing from Friday, March 3 Viceroy’s House (12A and new release) opens with us on Friday.

Starring Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson and Michael Gambon, as well as a host of other major actors, this is the story of the hand back of India to the people of the land by Lord Mountbatten, who was the last Viceroy of India.

Directed by Gurinda Chadha, we can be confident it will be a great film.

Logan (15) - this looks good, hard hitting, I hope to watch it on Thursday.

Fifty Shades Darker (18 and number two in the top 10) - still not seen it, but attracting the audience, so maybe we should.

The Lego Batman Movie (U and number one in the top 10) - still worth a watch with some really good moments which work on two levels – one for the kids and one for the grown-ups.

Sing (U and number three in the top 10) - a good family film with feel good throughout.

Hidden Figures (PG and number five in the top 10) - is with us for one more week only.

Coming soon Kong: Skull Island (12A) is definitely booked on its release date of March 10.

Beauty and the Beast is also booked on its release date of March 17.

Stage shows We have a new announcement from National Theatre Live, this time from the Barbican Theatre, a production starring Jude Law - Obsession (rated 15).

Ivo Van Hove is the director of this stage production of Luchino Visconti’s film from 1943.

Gino is a drifter who is down-at-heel and magnetically handsome (that part is a bit like me).

At a road side restaurant, he encounters Giuseppe and Giovanna who are married and irresistibly attracted to each other, Gino and Giovanna begin a fiery affair and plot to murder her husband Giuseppe.

But, well, the crime only serves to tear them apart.
