A BRAND new show featuring a comedy legend has just been announced for this year’s summer season at Scarborough Spa.

Get ready for six weeks of fun, laughter song and dance with the brilliantly funny and zany comedian Bernie Clifton, who will perform three times a week from July 24 to August 30.

The Merseyside born funny man has had quite a career so far, with much of it spent on an oversized ostrich called Oswald - making him recognisable wherever he goes.

Bernie’s long time obsession with visual comedy stems from conversations with his mentor Les Dawson.

Heeding Dawson’s wise advice, Bernie found continued success both in cabaret, theatre and television to the ultimate high point, being chosen for the 1979 Royal Variety Performance where the Queen was reported to be crying with laughter as he ran amok aboard his ostrich.

Bernie was also invited back to the 2016 Royal Variety Performance where he performed alongside host David Walliams, who was also donned in the famous ostrich suit.

Most recently Bernie starred in the hit BBC show ‘The Voice’. His performance of ‘The Impossible Dream’ was watched by an audience of over seven million. With such a great response, Bernie was able to release the album ‘The Voice of Bernie Clifton’.

Other TV show appearances include ‘Crackerjack’, ‘Tricky Business’ and ‘The Good Old Days’.

With a full supporting cast, this Tony Peers’ Production will promise to deliver a fun night for all the family.

Jo Ager, General Manager of Scarborough Spa said: “We’re really looking forward to having the hilarious Bernie Clifton with us for the summer season. The programming for 2017 is now really taking shape, and this brand new show will be a wonderful addition.”

Tickets for ‘The Bernie Clifton Show’ are £15 for adults, concessions £14 and kids going free with a paying adult. They are available from www.scarboroughspa.co.uk or via the Scarborough Spa Box Office on 01723 821888.
