THE NATION'S critically-acclaimed bar-based-braveheart, Al Murray – The Pub Landlord, will perform live at Scarborough Spa on Saturday, June 10.

He embarks on a common sense campaign to re-Great Britain in his brand new show, Let's Go Backwards Together.

We live in troubling times: Europe, the NHS, and whatever is going on in the Middle East. The gathering storm of fortnightly bin collections? Who knows where it will all end?

The tour sees Murray returning to the road with his stand-up persona, The Pub Landlord - a stereotypical xenophobic public house licensee.

In Channel 4’s most recent update of the 100 Greatest Stand-Ups, he was named as the 25th-funniest entertainer of all time.

His chat show Al Murray’s Happy Hour won a British Comedy Award and was nominated for a National Television Award.

Over the past 20 years he has received criticism and been the subject of controversy, with people struggling to distinguish him from his alter ego.

Arriving on stage on a motorised bar, with his trademark maroon blazer, he is instantly recognisable for his live shows, as well as his regular appearances on BBC panel shows Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and QI.

In January 2015, Murray announced the formation of the Free United Kingdom Party, and under his Pub Landlord persona, stood against UKIP leader Nigel Farage, as parliamentary candidate in the 2015 general election.

Jo Ager, General Manager of Scarborough Spa, said “We’re very excited to have Al Murray – The Pub landlord with us next summer.

“This adds to an already exciting line-up for one-off events in 2017, including Ross Noble, Jools Holland, Roy Chubby Brown and Jimmy Carr.”
