ACCLAIMED for performances and recordings that sparkle with fresh insight and vibrant musicality, The Ebor Singers have earned a reputation as one of the most exciting vocal ensembles in the north of England.

Based in the beautiful medieval city of York, the choir performs regularly in the city's stunning buildings, including York Minster. This Friday they will perform Britten’s Ceremony of Carols at Helmsley Arts Centre.

Few pieces capture the joy and expectation of Christmas quite as well as Britten’s Ceremony of Carols. This striking setting in eleven movements is scored for upper voices and harp. Alongside Britten's sequence, The Ebor Singers will ready you for Christmas with a tasting tray of seasonal music, with an aperitif of medieval carols, a main course of popular song arrangements, a dessert of exotic contemporary sacred pieces, and a nightcap to include the audience.

The Ebor Singers perform at Helmsley Arts Centre on Friday, November 25 at 7.30pm
