THE latest show at the Stephen Joseph Theatre for the youngest members of the family is by a writer who went on to be nominated for an Oscar.

Charlie and the Light Fantastic features clever Charlie, who’s invented the most advanced, most super-duper, most hi-tech, most amazing spaceship ever so that he and Elwood (his equally clever cat) can have exciting adventures across the galaxy.

Charlie and the Light Fantastic was written in 2007 by Tom Dalton Bidwell, who was Oscar-nominated in 2011 for his short film Wish 143; the Charlie script was commissioned by the SJT’s Associate Director (Young People and Community) Cheryl Govan, who directs a cast of SJT OutReach actors in this revival, said: “I think we can safely say that this is the first Tiny Time Tales to have been written by an Oscar-nominated author. We’re delighted to be reviving this fantastic show for young children in our popular Saturday morning slot.”

The show will take place at 10.30am on Saturdays, October 22 and November 19. Tickets are £3, and can be booked by phoning the box office on 01723 370541 or via thesjt.uk.com
