ONE OF Yorkshire’s biggest motor showcase will take place on Saturday, 24 and Sunday 25 September in Bridlington, where there will be an appearance by the original Stig from BBC Two’s Top Gear, as well as a variety of cars on show for members of the public to view.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is proud to present its first Weekend of Motoring event, during which The Spa Bridlington will host a Saturday evening gala dinner and talks with ‘the original Stig’, Perry McCarthy, from 7.30pm.

The ex-Formula One driver is a best-selling author and made a name for himself as The Stig on BBC Two’s Top Gear from 2002-3.

He will attend the event to talk to members of the public and answer any questions they may have.

The Sunday All Day Car Show will take place at Sewerby Hall from 11am-4pm, where up to 300 cars of all forms will come together to be showcased, including classics, vintage, supercars, VWs, modified, beach buggies and 4x4s for a truly memorable weekend of motoring.

The Sunday Challenge, which will run from 9am-4pm, will include a fuel economy run, brought to you by Tour Britannia, which will take participants on a scenic and atmospheric tour of the East Riding, showcasing the best countryside and scenery the region has to offer.

There are 100 spaces for people to join the rally challenge, leaving Bridlington to fuel up, have cars weighed and return to Sewerby Hall to join in with the All Day Car Show.

Lauren Frost, festival director, said: “This is the first Weekend of Motoring event to be staged in Bridlington and I am delighted to be a part of the shaping and delivery of what we hope will be a hugely successful and sought after fixture in the car diary.”

Tickets to attend the gala dinner and talks on Saturday with The Stig cost £35, Sunday’s all day car event is free to attend, just turn up on the day, and tickets to join the Sunday Challenge cost £5.
