HOORAY for Hollywood with the Scarborough Spa Orchestra takes place tomorrow (Thursday).

The orchestra will present an evening of well-known film themes, including music from Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter to attract a family audience.

Musical director Paul Laidlaw has just completed an arrangement of the titles theme from the great epic movie Ben Hur.

The films that have been chosen are all classics of their own kind. Out of Africa, The Third Man, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and The Pink Panther are likely to appear in the programme.

In addition, some of the greatest movie songs will be performed by star singer Michelle Todd. Based in Canada, Michelle visits the UK every summer and never misses a chance to sing with the Spa Orchestra. Her many West End credits include The Sound of Music with Petula Clark and the original London cast of Stephen Sondheim’s Follies. Among other items, Michelle will be singing songs from great movie musicals such as Cabaret, Guys and Dolls and Les Miserables.

The evening will close with a full selection of everyone’s favourite songs from The Sound of Music.
