A HULL-born singer and songwriter Carrie Martin brings a beautiful voice and acoustic guitar in perfect harmony to the Milton Rooms Studio next week.
Carrie’s songs and singing show the influences of the likes of Eva Cassidy – a far cry from her early days fronting a rock band - and her work has won the applause of renowned guitarist Gordon Giltrap, who accompanied Carrie on her debut album.
“I was originally taught guitar by my dad I when I was a small child in Hull. I began song-writing in my early teens and I always loved doing it,” said Carrie. She followed that with three years of vocal training which has certainly paid off in her latest work.
It was Giltrap that encouraged and inspired Carrie in her solo career. Having largely given up music to raise a family during the 1990s, she has returned to writing, playing, singing and performing in recent years featuring soulful ballads from her own pen and covers of more well-known artists.
Tickets for Carrie’s show on Friday, July 1, priced £8, are on sale at the Milton Rooms box office in Malton or by telephone 01653 696240.
