HAILED as a world class virtuoso the guitarist and composer Eduardo Niebla takes to the stage once again on his UK tour, bringing a concert with guitarist Matthew Robinson to Helmsley Arts Centre on Saturday 18 June at 7.30pm.

his gives Eduardo an opportunity to preview music from his highly anticipated new album, as well as his back catalogue spanning four decades.

If you don’t know the phenomenal guitar playing of Eduardo you’re in for a treat and if you are already among his admirers around the world you know you have something quite extraordinary in store.

Eduardo makes music that transcends genres and crosses barriers, fusing flamenco gypsy jazz with classical and Eastern colours, and the combination is quite breathtaking. Over the years Eduardo has collaborated with musicians across the globe including: sitar maestro Nishat Khan, the Dante String Quartet, the late Lol Coxhill (sax), Palestinian oud player Adel Salameh, trance phenomenon Juno Reactor and pop musicians George Michael & Craig David. His concert appearances have included the Cairo, Tbilisi, Odessa, Brecon and Marlborough International Jazz Festivals, the Jaipur Festival India, the Queen Elizabeth Hall London, Celtic Connections, the Olympic Games Greece, the San Isidro Fiesta Madrid and Glastonbury, as well as concert tours throughout Europe, the Baltic States, the Middle East and South Africa.

He has recorded 23 albums of his original compositions and written music for films, documentaries and plays, including for the BBC, as well as Festival commissions for guitar, brass bands, choirs and church organ.

Eduardo was born in Morocco in 1955, the seventh of 11 children. In 1960 the family became refugees and settled in Girona Spain where he grew up. In 1973 Eduardo turned professional with his acclaimed symphonic rock band “Atila” and later moved to Paris. In 1978 he arrived in London to pursue a solo career, performing with Mother Gong at Glastonbury in ’79, and has since been regarded as one of the outstanding guitarists of his generation. He now lives in North Yorkshire where he has his recording studios.
