THE PERFORMERS for the inaugural Velvet Burlesque show at Scarborough Spa have been announced.

Expect tantalising routines, daring circus stunts, sideshow shenanigans, buxom beauties, burlesque, drag and an array of surprises in The Grand Hall on Saturday 18 June.

Joe Black takes to the stage as your acid tongued ringmaster. Living somewhere between the stages of music, theatre and comedy, Joe takes an audience firmly by the hand and guides them into a place where the strange and unusual reign supreme. No stranger to the absurd, Joe creates a world where the shocking is the sublime and the ridiculous is the beautiful.

The internationally acclaimed burlesque artist Eliza DeLite delights in creating acts which embody varying time periods and styles; from 1920’s art deco glamour through to the vibrancy of the late 1950’s / early 1960’s. Eliza meticulously constructs her acts with a view to transport her audience to a place of visual beauty and wonderment.

A combination of film, magic, comedy and music reveal the wonderful and baffling world of The Duo Bogof; a Cabaret double act comprised of a Magician and his ex-wife assistant. But this is no ordinary magic show, for the Duo Bogof aren’t just magicians, they are cinemagicians. Equipped with their trusty video camera, a few magic props and the belief that anything is possible.

Hells Belle, the founder and choreographer of The Velvet Burlesque will wow the audience with “the fastest tassels in the North!” A mysteriously formidable Amazonian Goddess, with fiery arrogance, wit, intelligence, and style.

The tattooed temptress, Lady Wildflower, is known for her fierce, high-energy, show-stopping acts. Taking inspiration from her eclectic dance training in Disco-freestyle, Ballroom, Latin American and Contemporary dance as well as characters from sci-fi, fantasy and mythology.

The Yorkshire Puddings will showcase fabulously choreographed semi-pro and pro-troupe performances by curvy and plus sized performers. Taking each of their catchy routines firmly by the glittery horns and shaking the whole audience into a frenzied eruption of whoops, laughter and cheers!

Of course, the show would not be complete without The Velvet Burlesque dance troupe.

Established in 1991 by Lara Gothique (aka ‘Hells Belle’), The Velvet Burlesque has earned a formidable reputation for a professional and extremely high quality performance. Due to this, The Velvet Burlesque are now one of the largest and longest-running burlesque and cabaret variety productions in the U.K.

This will be the first of three performances for the burlesque show this year, with other performances on Saturday 13 August and Saturday 19 November.

Tickets for ‘The Velvet Burlesque’ are now on sale and can be purchased from The Scarborough Spa Box Office 01723 821888 or via www.scarboroughspa.co.uk
