‘KING of the Waltz’ André Rieu has joined the event cinema line-up for this summer at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre (SJT).

Rieu’s annual Maastricht concert is one of the most eagerly anticipated cinema events of the year, last year setting new box office records in several countries. It will be screened at the SJT on Sunday, July 24, at 3pm.

Set against the stunning medieval backdrop of the town square in his Dutch hometown, the spectacular concert features the maestro in his element, along with his world-famous 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, sopranos, tenors and special guests. He promises an unforgettable musical experience full of humour, fun and emotion for all ages.

Rieu said: “Every year we find ways to make my hometown concerts a unique experience for our audiences in the square, as well as those who watch us in the cinemas. We put a lot of time, energy and love into creating something special – some Maastricht magic.”

CinemaLive’s presentation of André Rieu’s 2016 Maastricht Concert in Cinemas features host Charlotte Hawkins, who introduces the show and conducts an interview with Rieu the moment he steps off stage, exclusively for cinema audiences.

The concert will last approximately three hours, including a 15-minute interval; spoken parts will be in English and Dutch, with some English subtitles.

This satellite-delivered concert is recorded several days prior to the cinema screening.
