A SUMMER treat is in store for jazz and guitar music lovers when Scottish guitarist and composer David MacGregor brings his personal tribute to the pioneer of solo jazz guitar, Joe Pass, to the Milton Rooms Studio on Friday, June 24.

David is himself a virtuoso solo finger-style world-jazz guitarist and composer from Scotland, with a career spanning more than 13 years as a professional performing musician.

It was Joe Pass’s unique guitar style in the Sixties and Seventies that created the impression of hearing an entire band on one instrument and in this show David delivers some of Pass’s best known works and talks about Joe and the stories behind the songs he played. As well as his extensive solo work, Pass is remembered for his partnerships with singer Ella Fitzgerald and pianist Oscar Peterson.

This is a chance to re-live or discover for the first time these all-time greats, executed with passion and outstanding improvisational skill by David in a fun, yet sophisticated, night of music.

Tickets, priced £8, are now on sale at the Milton Rooms box office in Malton or by phone 01653 696240.
