THE lively ladies of Helmsley Arts Centre's 1812 Theatre Company are set to portray the spirited world of 1920s schoolgirls with alacrity, verve and aplomb in a hilarious new production of classic comedy Daisy Pulls it Off.

Directed by Pauline Noakes, the play tells the story of impoverished Daisy, who wins a scholarship to a girls' boarding school.

Keen as mustard to fit in and learn, she finds her welcome is not universal. She must fight plots against her and disapproval if she is to earn her place on the 'Honours Board of Life'. Heirs to the suffragettes, daughters of Empire, survivors of the Great War, these girls are determined to battle the forces of nature and deceit whilst upholding the virtues of friendship, honour and valour. Vividly capturing the spirit of the time, this play is a must for lovers of a good old-fashioned rip-roaring comedy.

Daisy Pulls it Off is at Helmsley Arts Centre from today (Wednesday) to Sunday, April 24.
