BLACK Dyke Band, formerly John Foster & Son Black Dyke Mills Band, is one of the world’s most famous brass bands, with 160 years of rich musical history.

They were the first band to achieve the "Grand Slam" in 1985 by winning the Yorkshire regional, European, British Open and National Championship contests.

In 2014, the band won the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain for a record 23rd time, and the British Open Championship for the 30th time – another record. The band will be making their first ever appearance in Pocklington at the town's art centre this weekend and will be performing a rich and varied programme including well known classical pieces, military marches, and film music.

Janet Farmer, Venue Manager, said: "We are delighted to have secured a booking with one of the most sought after brass bands in the country. The concert follows on from Brighouse & Rastrick's sold-out performance at the venue in 2015 and has been equally as popular. Advance booking is advised, as tickets are close to selling out."

The Black Dyke Band are at Pocklington Arts Centre on Sunday, April 3 at 3pm
