A DROP-IN workshop at the Bistro at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough will celebrate Easter weekend with chocolate.

The free event, from 1pm to late afternoon on Saturday, will see youngsters making and decorating their very own chocolate lollipop – to eat on the spot, or take away.

The workshop will be run by family business, Crofts Chocolates, of Newborough, Scarborough.

Chocolatier Alex Grant, of Crofts Chocolates, said: “It goes without saying that we love chocolate, and even more, we love sharing chocolate. We’re delighted to be able to offer this exciting free workshop for young visitors to the Bistro at the SJT.”

The bistro at the SJT is run by The BEACH, part of Yorkshire Coast Homes (YCH).

Cherie Welburn, social media and communications officer, said: “Lots of YCH staff members get involved with events at the Bistro but, as a confirmed chocolate lover, I was first in line to help out when the idea of a lollipop making workshop was suggested. Now that I’ve had a sneaky taste of what Crofts will be creating I’ll certainly be joining the youngsters on the day.”

The event comes in the midst of a day of events at the SJT for children of all ages, with Tiny Time Tales: Jim of the Garden for the younger end of the family taking place in The Bistro from 10.30am, and, for older children, the comedy horror movie Goosebumps screening in the McCarthy cinema at 2pm. Tickets for Jim of the Garden are £3, and for Goosebumps, £7 (concessions including under-16s, £6).

The Bistro at the SJT is on the first floor of the Stephen Joseph Theatre, directly opposite Scarborough Railway Station.
